We all love to make things. Whether it be music, food, pottery, or furniture we all get inspired by creating things that bring us joy. The Materialogic Van represents our shared vision for high quality craft and the pursuit for a better built environment.


  • Industrial Designer

    Max studied Product Design at Art Center College of Design and is interested in the connection between our built environment and ecological health. Most recently, Max has worked with a non-profit to design and build flat pack cabinetry for mobile maker spaces which are utilized by after school programs nationwide. For the van build Max is involved in all aspects from brainstorming to building. He guides clients through the design process, creates concept renderings, and rolls his sleeves up in the build shop.


  • Manufacturing

    A native of the Netherlands, Joep was trained as a Master Cabinetmaker with a strong interest in automation and business. After emigrating to the US, he spent a decade fabricating high-end residential and commercial interiors in New York and New Jersey. Later, Joep spent 20 years in interior completions for private and corporate aircraft where he introduced CNC technology to the manufacturing process. Joep possesses skills in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia, and OnShape and specializes in manufacturing solutions for the built environment. In addition, he is involved with sales, R&D and training of vacuum press and thermoforming technology for various industries.


  • Design Strategist/Researcher

    As a social scientist steeped in Human Centered Design, Peri holds a MSc in Innovation from the University of Edinburgh Business School, Scotland. She is Senior Consulting Associate for Kaiser Permanente in the Bay Area, California, working in the design and healthcare industries. Previously, she worked at the Rick & Susan Sontag Center for Creativity (The Hive) at the Claremont Colleges (CA) where she created a unique approach to team building in the realm of sports called Designing Your Team. Peri’s focus areas include design strategy, ideation, and roadmapping for transformation, particularly in the area of health and wellness. She works with Materialogic on a project-to-project basis.


  • Design Strategist

    For 15 years, Val has been a designer/producer of environmental media for clients such as the PBS Learning Media Library, Platte Basin Timelapse, Arbor Day Foundation, Nature Explore, Spring Creek Prairie, Keep America Beautiful, Audubon Society, and Beyond School Bells. Valerie is co-author of Learning With Nature Idea Book published by Arbor Day Foundation and was an alumni coach for IDEO U and an Inaugural fellow of the Center for Social Impact Strategy.
